Cort Dogniez is a proud Métis man born and raised in Saskatoon. A graduate of the Indian Teacher Education Program, he possesses a Bachelor of Education and Post Graduate Diploma in Indigenous Studies. Cort worked for Saskatoon Public Schools for 31 years as a teacher, administrator and as the Coordinator for First Nations, Inuit and Métis Education. After retirement he worked for five years as an independent education consultant supporting First Nations and Métis Education across the province and with Park West School Division in Manitoba. He also worked for Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools for five years in the position of the Métis Education Program Leader based at St. Michael Community School. Cort has been a workshop facilitator for the Office of the Treaty Commissioner for many years and enjoys this role immensely. He is an oral storyteller and enjoys sharing stories taught to him by his kohkom. He is also a published children’s author. His first book, Road to La Prairie Ronde was published in 2020 and received two nominations from the Saskatchewan Book Awards.
